TIMELINE

1978 – "Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds" is released, with Richard Burton as the
journalist/narrator. A fusion of rock, electronica and narration, this musical masterpiece became an instant classic. It stays on the UK charts for 6 years and goes on to sell over 12 million copies worldwide.

1988 – THE WAR OF THE WORLDS TV series is born and runs from 1988 until 1990. The series
includes modern computer effects which include the use of the original 1953 'swan' ship design.

1990 – "Spaced Invaders" movie is released. This spoof features dimwitted martians that drop into a small Illinois town, the same day a local radio station rebroadcasts Orson Welles' 1938 THE WAR OF THE WORLDS.

1998 – "Jeff Wayne’s Musical Version of THE WAR OF THE WORLDS" PC video game is released and features more than 60 minutes of music from the original album, as well as the voices of Richard Burton and Nigel Hawthorne. A sign of the album's influence and enduring popularity is that not one, but three computer games are eventually released that feature Jeff Wayne’s music.

2000 – "Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of THE WAR OF THE WORLDS" is remixed as a dance compilation album (titled "ULLAdubBULLA") by top names in the dance / techno music industry.
